Sounds weird but I play a contact sport and am on a perpetual quest to find the ultimate brow product that can withstand hours of sweat, rough housing and getting my face rubbed. Definitely a big ask but something that claims to be "semi permanent" or waterproof always makes me excited to try. Probably the best one I've tried so far is Maybelline Brow Tattoo pomade so I was keen to see if this one could replace it.
Pros: * great gel texture, more fluid than a pomade and doesn't dry on the lid while you're applying, although dries quite quickly on the brows. Allows for precise application
* a very tiny amount goes a long way and extremely pigmented. I think the small jar would probably last me years even using every single day
* Definitely long lasting and very smudge resistant. Stays pretty pristine under everyday conditions i.e regular activities, sweating from exercise
Cons
* Definitely not semi permanent or 100% waterproof. I'd hoped the brow gel would remain completely intact while running my face under the shower (without rubbing brows) and although it doesn't wash off, run or smudge, the gel starts getting dislodged just from water. Unfortunately it comes off in little flakes or blotches, leaving the surface of the brows patchy and uneven so it's difficult even to just retouch from there without having to redo my brows from scratch. And ironically, even though it only comes off a little, the patchiness is so obvious that you really can't NOT retouch it. I often have to shower a few times in the day so it'd be nice not having to spend so much extra time redoing my brows!
* The "dark brown" colour has a reddish tinge which is visible in different lights and possibly on camera. As I have black/Asian hair, this was probably the most visibly unappealing thing that made me go back to the Maybelline Brow pomade (a cooler brown) despite the Ofra's better texture.
Bear in mind, this is from the perspective of someone who sweats heavily, gets their face mashed all the time and has to shower multiple times a day as well as having next to NO natural eyebrows. If you don't do those things and even just sweat normally during exercise, this product will probably last all day for you. I was just expecting more out of the "semi permanent" claim.
Hmm, maybe it has to be microblading for me in the end.
